Hello All,
✅ Good News from Your Local Policing Team ✅
This week on St Matthews Team 1, officers have maintained being pro-active within the Town Centre and our area we work in. Due to the current time of year that we are in, officers have been maintaining and tackling the high demand of jobs relating to fireworks. This has resulted in fireworks being siezed by us as they were either used in an Anti-social manner or they were being brought and/or used illegally. Officers have also been on top of our stop and searches and arrests through week period operation which is “Mischeif Fortnight”.
Arrests have been made this week too, to ensure the safety of others in our area. One male was arrested by Team 1 officers after they committed a nasty assault against a lady in Leicster Street. The male was taken to custody. Another male was also arrested not long after they assaulted another officer.
This week we have also been busy with vehicle crime having siezed 3 different cars all for different reasons. One was siezed for driving with no insurance, following this driver then later was banned from driving as the insurers had cancelled the policy as the driver already had 12 points. The second vehicle was siezed due to the driver driving with a provisional license only, with no L plates and no appropriate passenger. The third was vehicle was discovered by Team 1 officers after a report of a stolen van come in. The van was found is a very secluded car park and was confirmed as the stolen van on scene.
Within Walsall town centre a very interesting event also took place, which was while following security chasing a suspected shop lifter through Walsall Town Centre and a Safer towns officer commandeering a taxi to catch up, a male wanted for 10 shop lifting offences was arrested this morning and is awaiting interview. This arrest was good for the team, the retaillers in the town and also a very creative idea that was made by the officer to ensure that the suspect did not get away.
📅 Upcoming Police & Community Engagements 📅
As usual, our officers will maintain a pro-active approach to Police the town centre and it's surrouding areas, getting stop and searches and arrests where applicable. Speedwatches will also remain in place with new ones to be set over Novemeber to ensure speeding keeps to a minimum in the areas where speeding is seen the most. As of 08/11/26 our two week “Mischief Fortnight” also ends but not to worry as we will still remain vigilaint, responding to local issues that are occurring within the area of St Matthews. PCSO's of the team are also planning more engagements with our local residents of different places to obtain any information the residents would like to obtain and take notes of any issues or concerns that they may have. This allows us to continue growing our relationships between the Police and the Public. 📞 How to Contact Us or Report Information 📞 💬 Stay Connected with Your Local Team: 🤝🏼 Thank you for working with us to keep Walsall safe and informed.
